The Pianist is a biographical war drama film directed by Roman Polanski, 2002. It is based on the autobeigraphical book "The Pianist" by Wladyslaw Szpilman.  The film is a co-production between Poland, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

The film was awarded the Palme d'Or at the 2002 Cannes Film Festivals. It won the Oscar for best director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and best Actor.  Director: Roman Polanski
